Holy Spirit Prompts · Last updated 6 October 2026
Holy Spirit Prompts does not collect your data. There is no server, no account, and no analytics. Everything you write, photograph, film or record stays on your device unless you deliberately move it yourself.
What the app stores, and where
Your promptings, God stories, tags, scripture references, statuses and transcripts are stored in a database inside the app's own storage on your device. Nobody else can read it, including me.
- Photos and videos are referenced, never copied. When you attach one, the app stores only an identifier pointing at the item already in your Photos library. Anything you capture inside the app is saved to your Photos library first, so it also appears in your normal Photos app.
- Voice recordings are the one exception. iOS has no shared library for recordings the way it has one for photos, so recordings you make or import are stored as files inside the app's own storage.
The only two things that ever leave your device
Both require a deliberate action from you. Neither happens in the background, and nothing else is ever transmitted.
- A backup you export yourself. Choosing Export in Settings writes a single file and hands it to the iOS share sheet. Where it goes from there is entirely your choice — iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Proton Drive, AirDrop, or nowhere at all. The app makes no network connection of its own to do this, and sends it nowhere automatically. You may optionally protect the file with a passphrase you choose; that encryption uses Apple's own cryptography, and the passphrase is never stored or transmitted.
- A single recording you send to Apple for transcription. Transcription runs on your device by default. If on-device transcription is unavailable, the app offers a choice, and only if you tap Send to Apple for Transcription is that one recording sent to Apple's speech recognition service to be transcribed. It is never sent silently, never sent in bulk, and no other recording is affected. Apple's handling of that audio is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
What is not collected
No personal information. No contact details. No location. No device identifiers. No usage or diagnostic analytics. No advertising identifiers. There is no tracking of any kind, no third-party SDKs, and no data shared with anyone — because there is no mechanism in the app to send it anywhere.
Permissions the app asks for
Each is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and the app works without any of them.
- Camera — to take a photo or film a video to attach to a prompting.
- Microphone — to record a voice prompting.
- Photo Library — to display photos and videos you choose to attach, and to save ones you capture in the app into your library.
- Speech Recognition — to transcribe a recording when you ask it to.
Deleting your data
Delete any prompting or story inside the app and it is gone from the database. Deleting the app itself removes all of its storage, including every recording and transcript. Because nothing is held anywhere else, there is nothing to request, and no account to close. Export a backup first if you want to keep anything.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the policy will be updated here and the date above will change.
